OPI Muppets Collection: Rainbow Connection Nail Polish

Have you ever been shocked to find out something about your significant other?  I'm not talking some jaw-dropping, scandalous secret, but rather a mundane sort of fact that you never realized that you didn't know? (did that sentence make sense?)  I was surprised to learn that my husband, who has been in my life for 10 years, has never heard the Muppet's Song, "Rainbow Connection" (or rather, has heard it elsewhere and didn't know it was a Muppet's/Kermit song)!  How is this possible?  This revelation was even more funny because the song 'Rainbow Connection' was featured on the children's show "Yo Gabba Gabba" (a show that my younger boys LOVE and will watch on repeat if left to their own devices) being sung by one of the song's writers, Paul Williams.  I had to explain to my husband who Mr. Williams was and I saw a light bulb click on!  He said something to the effect of, "oh, that makes more sense.  I was wondering why this random old guy was singing this sad song on a kids show...kinda creepy" (sorry Mr. W!).

Well, that rambling brings me to my nail polish choice today, another from OPI's Muppets Collection... "Rainbow Connection" is a multi-colored glitter bomb in a clear base.  It's been compared to Deborah Lippmann's famous 'Happy Birthday' glitter (see my beautiful friend Eugenia's comparison here).  I figured that since I do not own Happy Birthday, but have always wanted to try it, this was the next best thing.

I layered 'Rainbow Connection' over Essie's 'Sand Tropez'.  I wanted a nude base that would allow the glitter's rainbow to shine through! (Plus, I'm heading to Parent/Teacher night shortly and didn't want to look too crazy)...
Also, this is only one (thick) layer of 'Rainbow'!  Can you believe how dense the glitter is?

I'm happy to report that this glitter dries pretty smooth...something that was not true of the orange pumpkin glitter I had on last night!
I love this and cannot wait to try this over other shades as well!

Here is Paul Williams on 'Yo Gabba Gabba' singing 'Rainbow Connection'!  How can you not love this song :)

  2. As a teacher I would be highly impressed if one of my kids parents turned up with rainbow connection on their nails! It would make the interview way more fun.

  3. Love this polish! We can't find this collection in Richmond! I even called Ulta and they hope to get it next week if that. Oh man! This color looks great with Sand Tropez.
My hubs is a little younger than me so there are always things that pop up and I'm like, "Remember that?" and he's like "What? No." :-)

  4. Maribeth, my love...thank you for the shout-out! I'm so happy you picked this one up and your choice of layering it over Sand Tropez is INSPIRED!! For some ridiculous reason, I always forget that I can layer these types of polishes...talk about a DUH moment!! It looks awesome, and I have no doubt you will be the COOLEST mom at parent-teacher night! xox
