Deborah Lippmann "Sweet Dreams" Nail Polish Pictures/Review

It's been awhile since I tried a new Deborah Lippmann polish, but as soon as I saw this one, I needed it A.S.A.P.  I tend to cave on Lippmann's if they fit the following criteria: #1- The color must be something I will wear (more than once) and be somewhat original.  #2- If the first criteria is met PLUS I also like the name of the song that the polish is named after, it must be mine. These were both satisfied the moment I saw "Sweet Dreams". (Cue The Eurythmics!  Or Marilyn Manson's version if you prefer.  Or even still you could go with Emily Browning's version from the movie "Sucker Punch". I'm never offended when another artist remakes a song that I love.  I figure, if they enjoy the song enough to remake it, they must love it as much as I do which is enough for me!  But I digress :D  We were talking about nail polish, right? )

"Sweet Dreams" is a hot pink-fuchsia jelly base with gold flake glitter:

Here are some details:

Color- Really pretty and juicy looking.  This conjures up visions of some sort of fruity, fizzy, strawberry based drink that you would have on a tropical vacation.

Application/Formula- Eh, here is where it's not all roses and sunshine.  It wasn't horrible by any means, and as a general rule, I usually take the "Lippmann Factor" into consideration when I purchase one of these.  What's the Lippmann Factor, you ask?  I fully expect that any of her glitter based polishes are going to require some effort and mindful application on my part.  I also fully expect that it will be worth it in the end and that is exactly the case here!  The formula is on the thick side.  I mentioned that this is a jelly base and that is almost what it felt like I was spreading on my nails- actual jelly.  But you know the drill- wait a good couple of minutes in between layers (I did 2 layers here and got great coverage) and it will help you achieve a smooth finish without any "dragging". It dries very quickly and to a nice smooth, shiny finish.

Where To Buy- I found my bottle on HSN.com for $16 (with FREE shipping, to boot!).  HSN actually has quite a few Deborah Lippmann polishes and sets, including "Mermaid's Dream" and "On The Beach" which are also new for Spring!  HSN also ships SUPER fast!

What are your thoughts on this color?  Is it worth the splurge for you?  I really love it and would buy it again in one second flat!  I really want to do a pedicure with this now, but I will probably do a hot pink base so I do not have to waste layers of my precious Lippmann.

    1. I'm the same way Carla- unless it is an almost-nude pink, I pass on it. This one was calling my name in a big way!

    1. I would love to hear what you think of them when you try one! Some of the colors are definitely "dupe-able", but others are so original they are in a class by themselves!

  8. Beautiful...just lovely! It's so pretty and now I totally regret not picking it up this past weekend (had it in my greedy hands!), so I guess I'll be sniffing around the DL display again soon! PS: while glitter may not be my "thing", I do love me some flakies!

    1. Eugenia, I have a feeling I'm going to be experiencing the same sort of regret when I see your post about Mermaid's Dream. I kept talking myself out of it, but I can be easily swayed, especially by your nails!
