OPI Holland Collection: "Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?" Nail Polish Pictures With Comparison

"Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?" was the color I wanted most from OPI's new collection.  Yes, it is another nude polish.  I just can't help myself :)

This was on the thick side...here is 2 layers:

The closest comparable polish I have to this one is Essie's "Sand Tropez".  Here they are, side by side:

As you can see, they are pretty close, but different enough. San Tropez is ever so slightly warmer toned.  A "regular" person would not need both, but I feel it is definitely necessary to own both!

I then did one coat of Essie's Luxeffect "Pure Pealfection":

THEN, because I can never leave well enough alone, I added Essie's Matte About You top coat :

Kind of cool, huh?  I very rarely "matte-ify" polishes, but I am a fan of this combination.  Thoughts?

  1. love it!! especially with the matte!

  2. Love this combo, and mattified takes it a whole new level! Honestly, Maribeth, you actually inspire me to try layering (and you know how I avoid that!) :)

  3. Definitely a difference. VG is more gray - there is yellow in ST. I had seen another blog that compared these 2 and 1 other. Cannot recall what that 1 other was but it was one from last yr I am pretty sure. I don't think I need them all. I am not a huge fan enough of this range of hues...but I totally understand folks who are and love and so enjoy the subtle differences. I am that way with fuchsias and still enjoy a similar love of reds though I got to a point with reds, I had so many from deep to lighter I really could not tell the difference until formulas started to change and we got glass fleck and newer things added in.

  4. Ooh this is gorgeous. I love the effect the Essie Luxeffects gave :)
