Claire's "Candy Shop" Nail Polish Pictures (Deborah Lippmann Copy)

Today I have "Candy Shop" from Claire's on my nails.  First I will show you the pics, then I will blab all about what I think:

Color:  A sheer, medium, bubblegum pink base with an explosion of multi-colored, mulit-shaped glitter.

Formula/Application: Application was pretty easy.  I did 2 layers for this manicure, and you can still see my nail line. I did not want to go with a 3rd, in fear that the amount of glitter would be too unmanageable- it is that dense.

Where To Buy:  These retail for $5 in Clarie's shops.

Final Thoughts:  From what I can tell, and for all practical purposes, this is an exact copy of Deborah Lippmann's "Candy Shop" polish.  While I am all for getting an inexpensive 'dupe' of a heftier priced polish, this one particularly bothers me and I'm not sure why.  Maybe it is the blatant use of the same exact name as well as the color? (See Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop here).  Could you at least come up with an original name for your knock-off?  It looks like a little girl's Barbie-themed birthday party threw up into a nail polish bottle...could we use that as the name?  Well that's just my 2 cents...I guess it really doesn't matter since I am already guilty of purchasing this, but what are your thoughts on the subject?  I tend to flip-flop, if you couldn't tell ;)

  2. I've been meaning to pick this one up! It looks just like the DL. You're right though, why didn't they pick another name?

    1. There are so many naming possibilities! Cupcake, or Sprinkles, or something-anything else! hahah

  3. The thing is, this is the kind of shade and name I'd expect from Claire's but not Deborah Lippmann... don't you think?!? I was kind of surprised and disappointed when Lippmann came out with Candy Shop. You're right about the copying of name and shade, though. Personally I wouldn't spend any of my dollars on either of them. LOL

    1. I think you make an excellent point! It didn't feel Lippmann-esque enough to motivate me to buy the real deal, so I settled on the cheap immitation :) I'm glad all I spent was $5, because although this is a 'cute' polish, I probably will never reach for it again :/

  5. Wow! I'd say that's a dead on dupe. That's pretty lame they used the same name. Great swatches! It looks great on you! I wasn't a fan of it on me.

  6. That's a lot of glitter for 2 coats. I would layer that polish over a light pink (if I ever got it).
And I agre with you about the name..they should have changed it =/
