Cult Nails Divas & Drama Collection

Today I have Cult Nails "Divas & Drama" Collection, all thanks to the always stellar Brandi over at The Collegiate Nail!  I won this from her recent giveaway and I am SO psyched-I felt like I won the lottery!  I love Cult and these colors are phenomenal. They scream 'Summer' to me!

First- here's "Enticing", a sweet baby pink with shimmer.  The perfect color to wear when you want a soft, polished look.  I LIVE for colors like this and this is now at the top of my 'favorites' list:

(3 layers)

Then we have "Manipulative", an unbelievably beautiful aqua that is unique to my hoard of aqua/teal/turquoise polishes.  The shimmer sets it apart from the others:

(2 layers)

And then there's "Scandalous".  What can I say about this color to convey how I feel about it?  IT ROCKS!  A melon-coral jelly polish that makes your hands look tan (and fruity ;D). Squishy, juicy, luscious. These are the words that come to mind:

(3 layers)

Seriously...how gorgeous?!
"Seduction" is the (limited edition) flaky polish in this set.  It has a purple base and multi-colored flakes throughout and it is super, super pretty.

Bottle shot

Here is a shot of it layered over the others from this set:

I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it! ('Elf', anyone?)

These fantastic polishes are still available on Cult's Website, so scoop them up asap!  Also, don't forget to check out Brandi's blog- you won't regret it!

Which one is your fav?

Finger Paints "Grape Gumball" Nail Polish With Nail Decals

Here's another polish I picked up at the crazy Sally Beauty Supply clearance sale this weekend.  I paid $1 for this one as well, which surprised me considering it just came out for the Spring.  (Not complaining!)

Finger Paints "Grape Gumball" is part of the the "Gumdrops & Lollipops"  Spring collection (along with Circus Peanuts).  It's grapey-blue purple with flecks of subtle shimmer throughout:

I wanted to do an accent nail,so I used my water decals from www.kkcenterhk.com.  These are SUPER easy to use and they give a pretty effect similar to a stamp or airbrush design, but without the work.
It may be difficult to see in the picture below, but the top half is white flowery designs just like the black ones:

I cut off the white one I wanted to use and trimmed it down as much as possible without cutting into the design.  I then laid it flat, flower side down:

Next, I soaked a cotton ball with water and held it on top for about 10 seconds.  If you have ever applied a temporary tattoo, this process is pretty much the same:

I took my cotton off and there was my design!  So easy and I love how it came out:

Kkcenterhk has TONS of different designs to choose from.  The wonderful Anne of Grape Fizz Nails posted her feather ones the other day, and I NEED those too now!

Have you ever tried water decals? What do you think?

OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection: The Color Of Minnie & Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It

I love the themes that OPI has been doing lately.  First Spiderman, now Minnie Mouse?  This is a 4 piece set and I have 2 of them today (I am trying- in the name of all that is holy- to only purchase the colors that grab me right away.  At least until I buy a 2nd Helmer ;)

"The Color Of Minnie" is gorgeous red with shimmer and a flash of pink.  If you have read my blog before, you may know that I am not a 'red' girl at all.  I just never feel they look right on me.  As soon as I saw this red though, I knew we'd be friends:

(2 layers)
In the sun you can see that pretty pink flash.

In the shade, you can see this is a serious red:)
"Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It" is a glass-fleck,flaky type glitter that is pink, purple, and orange.  There are also pink hearts mixed in.  Usually,  this type of "shaped" glitter can be challenging to fish out of the bottle.  This one was a tad easier than others I've used in the past.  Still, I didn't go nuts trying to get them out and settled on one heart per nail.  Besides, I don't think the hearts are the best part of this polish- the flecks steal the show!

(1 layer over The Color Of Minnie)

I have so many other colors that I want to layer "Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It" over!  (Look for that post soon ;D ).

China Glaze Lemon Fizz Nail Polish

***Don't Forget To Enter My Zoya Fleck Collection Giveaway! 3 days left!***

I do not own many yellows.  Maybe 2?  I saw China Glaze "Lemon Fizz" sitting in a clearance bin at Sally Beauty Supply this weekend and had to try it.  Not only because it's a beautiful color, but because they are having an insane clearance sale where everything that is already on clearance is an additional 1/2 off.  I paid $1 for this. ONE DOLLAR! If you have a Sally's nearby, run there tomorrow-it's the last day of the sale!

"Lemon Fizz" was part of the "Up & Away" collection that came out in the beginning of 2010:

Creamy, soft, baby chick yellow. Unbelievably awesome formula too.  This was only 2 layers and it was streak free and even.  LOVE!

China Glaze Pink Voltage With Silver Stripes

Here's another manicure I did while playing around with my striping tape: 2 layers of China Glaze "Pink Voltage", a hot pink neon with shimmer.  After this dried for a bit, I place my silver striping tape, then sealed everything with top coat:

I am so anxious to get my hands on the new China Glaze Summer Neons!  I used "Pink Voltage" to try and keep me happy, but I am dying for all of those beautiful, shimmery neons...I can't wait!

Memorial Day Nails Using Striping Tape (Mini Tutorial)

Striping tape is an easy way to create designs on your nails.  I recently ordered a set of 10 different colored tapes.  They arrived yesterday and I could not wait to do something with them.  Since we are celebrating Memorial Day here in the U.S. this weekend, I decided to go with a "red, white, & blue" theme.

First I did 2 layers of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in the color, "Thinking Of Blue", a perfect navy creme:

After this dried to the touch (about half an hour), I began placing my tape.  It is best to wait for your polish to be somewhat dry so that you have the ability to re-position it if need be.  Leaving enough extra room on the ends to play around with, I cut off a piece of the tape and placed my red stripe:

Once you like how it's positioned, press down on it so that it is flat, paying close attention to the sides of your nails- you don't want those lifting!

When your happy with your tape/stripe, cut off the ends.  Using cuticle nippers proves to be the easiest way to do this since their slanted edge allows you to get close to your nail without actually touching it:

I did the same with my white and blue striping tape, then topped it off with my new favorite top coat- Cult Nails "Wicked Fast":

There are my patriotic nails!  What do you think?  Have you used striping tape before? Some of the other colors I got are silver, 2 different golds, purple, green, turquoise and pink. I love how super easy the tape is to use and to create even lines!

Glitter Sandwich With Cult Nails "Cruisin' Nude"

***Don't forget to enter my Zoya Fleck Collection Giveaway!***

Here is what I used to do a glitter sandwich tonight!

I started with 2 layers of "Crusin' Nude", then did one layer of Sally Hansen "Multi-Faceted" and then topped it all with one layer of OPI "You Callin' Me A Lyre?".  Sealed it all with Cult Nails "Wicked Fast" top coat and voila:

I didn't think I really liked "Mult-Faceted", but this combo saved it for me!

L.A. Girl Fruity Scented Nail Polish (Pictures)

I love finding L.A. Girl polishes that I haven't tried.  I found these "Fruity" ones at Rite Aid!  Now, thanks to my wonderful adult-onset allergies, I can't really tell you how these smell.  I can tell you that they each have a really fun crushed flaky kind of glitter though!

First I did "Razzy Raspberry" (sheer pink purple with glitter flecks) over Essence "Break Through":

Break Through by itself

One layer of "Razzy Raspberry" on top of "Break Through"

Next, "Sparkling Peach" (Clear base with peach & gold flake glitter) over Zoya "Wednesday":

Zoya Wednesday alone

"Sparkling Peach" over "Wednesday"

Lastly, "Blissful Blackberry" (sheer wine colored base with burgundy & gold flecks).  I did this one by itself. A tad sheer, I did 3 layers here and it was pretty opaque"

I really wish I had a sense of smell right now so I could weigh in on that aspect of these.  Alas, I spend a good 6-7 months of the year with almost no sense of smell.  It's very frustrating and you would think that I would lose weight since I can't really taste my food either, but nope- I'm still boredom eating even if I can't really tell what I am putting in my mouth! :D  Can you say "issues"?

Do you own any scented nail polishes?  Do you sit around and sniff your nails?  Tell me about it so I can live vicariously through you!
