Finger Paints "Grape Gumball" Nail Polish With Nail Decals

Here's another polish I picked up at the crazy Sally Beauty Supply clearance sale this weekend.  I paid $1 for this one as well, which surprised me considering it just came out for the Spring.  (Not complaining!)

Finger Paints "Grape Gumball" is part of the the "Gumdrops & Lollipops"  Spring collection (along with Circus Peanuts).  It's grapey-blue purple with flecks of subtle shimmer throughout:

I wanted to do an accent nail,so I used my water decals from www.kkcenterhk.com.  These are SUPER easy to use and they give a pretty effect similar to a stamp or airbrush design, but without the work.
It may be difficult to see in the picture below, but the top half is white flowery designs just like the black ones:

I cut off the white one I wanted to use and trimmed it down as much as possible without cutting into the design.  I then laid it flat, flower side down:

Next, I soaked a cotton ball with water and held it on top for about 10 seconds.  If you have ever applied a temporary tattoo, this process is pretty much the same:

I took my cotton off and there was my design!  So easy and I love how it came out:

Kkcenterhk has TONS of different designs to choose from.  The wonderful Anne of Grape Fizz Nails posted her feather ones the other day, and I NEED those too now!

Have you ever tried water decals? What do you think?

    1. You will love them! I was shocked at how easy they were to apply. You barely even need to press down with the wet cotton and -bam! There's the design!

  4. What a pretty polish! I was at Sally's a couple hours ago and the only clearance items they had were two shades from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection: "Mahogany Magic" and "Hook And Line" which were on sale for $3.49 - you definitely got the better deal with you $1 polish. Hehe.

Love the decals, too. Can't forget those! ;)

  10. I love waterslide decals, especially ones like this- they make some more complicated ones that are horrible. Decals work much better for me than nail strips (like Sally Hansen). So pretty, and what a bargain!!

  11. Hey MB. I'm almost afraid to comment because I've been such a bad friend! I can't believe I STILL haven't emailed you back. The more time that goes by, the more i have to say, and the longer the email in my head gets and I'm already exhausted before I even start writing it, haha.

I need to get some water decals now! I suck at stamping (or just don't have the right tools) so they seem like a good way to "cheat".

    1. OMG JESSI! Don't be silly!!!!! Hahahaha...you know I love you no matter what! ALso, I am a total sucktastic stamper. Like seriously, I may have a stamping disability. I just can't get it down and everytime I try, I think I get worse, not better!!! LOLZ!

  13. Maribeth! So cool! I'm scared to try stamping (LOL!) - not that I have the time for it anyway, but I've admired the art of it....this seems like an excellent alternative, and so fast! I love the base colour, by the way - glass flecked polishes really call to me! I'd imagine that you'd probably need to seal in the decal with a layer of top coat, right? Fabulous!
