OPI The Amazing Spiderman Collection: Into The Night & Just Spotted The Lizard Nail Polish Pictures

Spider-Man.  I never in my life thought I would know anything about Spider-Man!  I grew up with 2 sisters (my brother came along later) and that was that...none of us were into comic books or anything like that, so I didn't know much about the web-slinger.  Now that I have 4 little boys of my own, well our house practically revolves around super heroes. None as revered as Spider-Man.  Sometimes Spider-Man downright takes over our lives.  Then, without notice, attention will dwindle.  The Spider-Man suit will be put away in a closet and forgotten about for a bit. Having a never-ending supply of boys though, it always comes back out.  I will be sad when we have to retire the suit for good, when it eventually does not fit any of them.  I cringe at the thought! I can't imagine life without Spider-Man toys, Spider-Man birthday parties, and even Spider-Man Easter eggs! I basically went from barely knowing that Spider-Man existed, to becoming a huge fan. Needless to say, I was psyched when I heard that OPI was releasing "The Amazing Spiderman" collection!

I picked up 2 from the collection- these are the 2 that felt the most "Spidey-esque" to me.  I was baffled as to why a Spider-Man collection would not have a single red in it, but I'm really happy with the ones I chose.

First, here is "Into The Night", and extremely gorgeous shade of blue shimmer that walks the line between being "blurple".  I love it.  It has a slight blackened effect that is just 'amazing':

I've had the Zoya Fleck collection for over a week now and it's killing me that I have yet to try them.  I put a layer of "Maisie" on top of this and it turned out very oceanic:

Next up, the much hyped "Just Spotted The Lizard", a metallic, color-shifting green that has an oil-spill type of effect.  It has been concluded by many that this is, indeed, a twin for Chanel's infamous Peridot (See Eugenia's comp, plus the others from the collection here).  I always wonder if I wasn't so nail polish and blog obsessed, if I would even take a second glance at some of the hyped colors.  I can say that I'm not sure with this one.  I do like it, but the main reason I picked it up was to see if it lived up to the press it's received.  I didn't expect it to be quite so brush-stroke obvious as it was, but I still like it:

I will say this- for a metallic, this was nice and smooth and did not accentuate any flaws the way that metallics typically do.  This is definitely a special color and, yes- you need it!

I will leave you with some parting shots of my boys in various forms of Spider-Man gear (oh, and the baby dressed as Batman as well....did you know that Spidey and the Caped Crusader hang out?).  Whether it be the Spider-Man suit or a Venom one (lower left), or simply a t-shirt bearing Spider-Man's face-it's all here (a Spider-Man Easter egg too)!

I couldn't leave out my favorite- a picture of my brother (big Spider-Man) with my oldest son when he was 4:
:D

Did you try any of The Amazing Spiderman polishes?  Will you be seeing the new movie when it hits theaters?  I have a feeling I will be there!

  3. Yay for sharing pictures of your boys! Am I crazy or did you post a picture of your boys in their Halloween costumes once? I looked for but couldn't find it.

I really like the two colors you chose. Did you see the frosty pink? WHY is that in a Spiderman collection?! Maybe for Aunt May? Haha. That's a shame about the brush strokes. I have Peridot and don't remember having a problem with brushstrokes. I totally had to go check my swatches and see.

    1. Hmm...I can't remember? Maybe I sent them in an email to you? And yes, I don't know where the frosty pink came from! hahaha Aunt May for sure! I am tempted to try it because I've seen some people make it look fabulous (Eugenia in the link above made me contemplate it). I always end up going back for more, so I will probably end up with most of them! Know what is weird? I sorta like the brush strokes in 'Lizard'....they weren't the annoying kind that wouldn't line up...does that make sense? hhaha

  4. Oh.My.God, Maribeth......while I love the shades you chose and your swatches are totally awesome, as always (and yes, even though 'Just Spotted the Lizard' can be a little finicky brush-stroke wise), I have to say that my favourite shots here are of your boys! They're the cutest! And ok, Big Spiderman? Too much...I love it!

PS: thanks for the shout-out, my friend! :)

    1. Hahah...thanks Eugenia!! This was the only picture I had with 'big' Spiderman with the mask on- the one where my husband is wearing it (you may remember, this is his suit- my brother borrowed it in this pic), he has his mask off so I'm SURE he would not love me posting it ;-) I love the faux muscles stitched into the suit...hahahaa
