NEW Revlon Runway Report Limited Edition Nail Polish: Sparkle Aplenty (Pictures/Swatches) Plus Comparison

As soon as I heard there was a new Revlon "Runway Report Limited Edition" nail polish out, I went hunting for it.  After looking in CVS, Walgreens, and Harmon with no luck, I finally found it at the grocery store "Wegmans"!  Early pictures of this color had people wondering if it was a "dupe" for OPI's "Metallic 4 Life" (Nicki Minaj collection).  It sort of is.  But, it's not.  If you have one, I don't believe you need the other.

I thought that because this polish had both silver AND black hex glitters in a black jelly base (as opposed to the OPI one that has only silver) it would be different enough. The truth is, once it is on, you cannot tell the difference between the black and the silver:

Here is just one layer.  You can see the black and silver here:

And here is a shot of Revlon (top) next to OPI (bottom):

The base on the Revlon is darker for sure.  I have to say, the formula on this Revlon was pretty crappy.  It felt like there was waaaaaay too much glitter in here. The glitter/base ratio was off, which made application very chunky and awkward.  The OPI one has a much better formula.

What do you think of "Sparkle Aplenty"?  Will you skip out on this one, or pick it up? (It is "Limited Edition" afterall :) Those are the magic words).  I'd skip it, especially if you already have "Metallic 4 Life".

  2. I don't have Metallic 4 Life (wanted it, never got it) but now I know I will NOT opt for the cheaper version! I mean it is pretty but not worth it for crappy formula and I like the slightly finer glitter better!

    1. It really is cool to see a "drugstore" label venturing into this area, isn't it? Whether you love this particular one or not, and even if a lot of Revlon's recent glitters have been dupes, I'm really crossing fingers that they're warming to the idea of more polishes like these!

  4. If it makes an appearance in the bins here in HK, I'll probably pick it up, if only out of curiosity. The black glitter doesn't make a huge contribution (the polish might actually be smoother and more manageable without it), but overall I think it's actually a more "cohesive" polish, visually, than Metallic 4 Life, which has always looked gritty to me. Hard to really say, though--neither seems that easy to work with. :-/

  8. I'm not sure about this. I kinda like it but I kinda am turned off by the chunk factor. I think this is one of those polishes I'll need to see in person.

  9. It reminds me a little of Milani Black Tux or what ever the name is...the Milani has more silver. It's not knocking my socks off, but I'd have to see it in person!

  10. Hmmm I was kind of excited for this but I'm not sure how much I'm digging it. I have Metallic 4 Life and I think I'm going to stick with that one instead.

  14. You already know that I'm not the biggest glitter fan, although I do make exceptions every now & then. The OPI original was one of those, probably because of its moody allure and now that you've reviewed this Revlon, I'll stick to the OPI. I think I own maybe 2 Revlon lacquers and the main reason is that their formula is known to be hit or miss -- mainly miss. Thanks for the in-depth review, my friend!
