Revlon Moon Candy Nail Art Duo: "Supernova"

I remember hearing about these Revlon Nail Art "Moon Candy" sets a few months back and I could not WAIT to try them!  I am a sucker for any gray & pink color combo, so naturally I needed "Supernova"!

This is a dual ended polish contraption type thing- one end has a creme polish and the other has a flaky (or the "Moon Candy").

I did one (yes, just one!) layer of the creme here; this is a super dark concrete gray:

And then I flipped over to the other side and did one layer of the pink flaky polish on top:

The flaky polish was on the thick side, but not horrible to work with.  I did find the whole dual ended applicator a little awkward to use- it is very heavy to paint with!  There are several other color combos in the "Moon Candy" lineup, but I'm pretty sure I'll stick to one for now.  I have several other flaky/shard type polishes that can give me  similar look (think China Glaze "Luxe and Lush") without the awkwardness.  I am glad I tried it though, and I applaud Revlon for continually trying new trends out!

Have you given Moon Candy a whirl yet?

  2. I love it! Essence makes some combos in the same type of bottle- hard for me to hold too- but they're not so pretty as this one :)

  3. I'm not a fan of flaky polishes - but the gray is really appealing to me!

  4. No way! I saw the display for the first time yesturday and the pink and grey was totally the one I gravitated to too! I didn't pick it up, but after seeing yours, I have to!!

    1. I ordered mine from Copious with a credit I had, and it arrived while I was up visiting my family in MA. I had to wait a week, knowing it was at my house and I couldn't use it- torture! ;)

  5. Very pretty! Similar to China Glaze Luxe and Lush for sure =)

  6. I'm curious how the flakies feel. They look on the rough/thick side and a topcoat guzzler, which would prevent me from getting it, despite how pretty the effect is.

    1. They dry smooth with one layer of top coat. They look super chunky and I thought it would be an issue too, but it's not. Do you have Luxe & Lush from CG? That is a great shard/flaky and also super smooth!

  7. I saw this entire range at Walgreens last week and sat staring at the display for the longest time! Hadn't heard of these babies either (it's like I've been in a cave, right?!) Can't believe the dark grey colour is just one coat - wow! And you're so right about the other end being so close to 'Luxe & Lush'! Really love how well they look together!

  8. I saw this at Walgreens not to long ago, but they were sold out of the whole set...otherwise I probably would have come home with some :O/

  9. Am I missing some trick? My boyfriend is a CVS manager so when they got this in and he saw the "orbit" he excitedly brought it home for me, because purple is my favorite color. Twice I've tried using this and I think the top coat is far too golly and awkward. No matter how much I shake and mix, there is no consistency with the sparkles. I get none on one finger, but a huge glob of confetti on another. I think it's pretty, but being so uneven makes it undesirable to me. I do love the base coat though, and I used his daughter's glittery blue polish as a topcoat after taking off the glop. It was gorgeous. I just wish the topmost of this was better. Or maybe I'm just clueless on how to use it?

    1. *gloopy, not golly. I'm on my phone and it got autocorrected. :)

    2. I've found that you have to make sure you use 2 coats of the base and have just the right amount of the top coat on the brush, like you said it's pretty thick. On the nails where I don't get enough I just do a lighter second coat. I've used Galactic and Supernova on my fingernails so far and I'm currently wearing Universe on my toes. I haven't tried Orbit yet though.

  10. So far, Galactic is my favorite from the collection. I liked Supernova, but I'm more of a blue person. :)
