Deborah Lippmann "Modern Love" (Pictures and Comparison)

If you know me at all, you know my extreme and rather obsessive love for all neutral nail polish.  I mean, how many beige/mauve/sand polishes does one person actually need? I am constantly trying to find the "perfect" one.  This will help you understand why I was SUPER PSYCHED when I saw one of Deborah Lippmann's new Fall releases, "Modern Love".   I think most normal people would think, "Yeah. It's mauve. What is the big whoop?".  Even Deborah Lippmann herself (well, her website) describes this as, "modern classic mauve". The description is not exactly earth shattering, am I right? I still was very excited to get this yesterday:

As usual, my "Deborah Lippmann Checklist" was employed while trying to decide whether or not to purchase this: #1- Do I like the color? (Check) and #2- Do I like the song that the polish is named after? Loving all things David Bowie, that was a resounding "check" as well.

Here's 2 layers:

With the flash, you can see the dusty gray/almost purple quality this mauve has.

In the lighting below, you can see more of it's brown tones:

 Of course, I love this.

While I was awaiting the arrival of "Modern Love", I started to go through my polish collection (in my head since they are all kept there as well) and started to wonder how it would compare to China Glaze "Dress Me Up" from the Hunger Games  collection:

As you can see, they are both mauve, but "Dress Me Up" is far more pigmented and rosy, while "dusty" is the word that keeps coming to mind for "Modern Love":

I ordered this from Apothica.com and it shipped so quickly, even with the Labor Day holiday this week! Any nail polish addict knows there is nothing worse than waiting for you polish to arrive, so I was really pleased with how fast this came!

If you love neutrals like me, you definitely will love "Modern Love"! ;-)
