Twinise Tuesday: Fugly Polish

Hey there! Welcome to another "Twinsie Tuesday" post :D

Today's theme is "Fugly Polish".  I just love the word 'fugly'- it's so descriptive.  I've chosen China Glaze "Mahogany Magic" from The Hunger Games collection.  It's just so---fugly. I mean, it sounds like it would be a great polish; a brown creme. How can you really mess up brown? I don't know. It's just a little too...warm, or green tinged, or something. I can't put my finger on it:
Usually there is a sure fire way to "un-fug-ify" a polish: add glitter.  I did. And, it didn't work:
(one layer of OPI "Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It-minus the hearts)

Yeah. Still fugly.

What do you think?

  1. I see what you mean about fugly, but I just think of this as a chocolaty brown, which I'm always a fan of.

    1. I think it's just fugly on me, because I did like it when I saw swatches of it on others. My skin tone + Mahogany Magic= gross.

  2. I agree, I think it's too something...too yellow, perhaps. Still, it actually looks great on you though!

  3. I like it! I can't see any green, is it there? That might ruin it for me. Otherwise it totally looks like chocolate =p

    1. In real life, you can see a ever so slight greenish tinge to it. It looks better in pictures I think! :)

    1. It does have a nice chocolately feeling to it in some lights, but others (on me) blah! Fugliness is in the eye of the beholder ;-)

  5. It kinda looks like baby poop on its own, but I love it with the pink :)

    1. Yes! Very baby poopish. It's def growing on me with the pink.

    2. Seriously. If you can get a pink to be at least that bright indoors, with no flash, you have a winner!

    1. Thanks Nory ;) If I associate it with food, I am more apt to like it so lets go with that!

  7. There's a fine line between looking like milk chocolate and looking like baby poop, and this one is right on that line! It does look quite lovely with the pink though! :)

  8. Poo. ...it looks like poo. BUT pretty poo on your pretty nails! ...and then it turns into pink sparkly poo. Like the black sheep of unicorn poo, it's pink and sparkly, but it's still poo. <3

Any excuse for me to say poo as many times as possible, haha!

  16. I have to agree with several of my fellow commenters here, Maribeth...about the poo reference, of course! Still, I actually like Mahogany Magic for it's weirdness and the fact that it's so uncommon! And I actually thought it looked pretty with your layering combo; I never thought that brown and pink would meet without clashing, but somehow you made it work!

    1. Hahahah! I do love it's weirdness too. I will definitely use this color a lot for nail art in the future!

  18. I love that we both tried horrid brown cremes and then tried to cover them with pink glitter. It just did NOT work. :)

  19. For me this would be a good brown to have on hand. It's perfect for chocolate, tree bark, etc.

  21. Blech, I never got the appeal of this color at all! My Sally used to have a TON of Mahogany Magic on clearance for a really long time haha.

    1. This was the last one I picked up to complete my HG set, and I swear it was because I just kept seeing it there, in the clearance bin, all lonely. I took pity on it and the overwhelming need for my set to be complete took over ;-)
