Zoya NYFW Gloss Collection: Frida, Paloma, & Katherine (Plus Some Jelly Sandwiches)

Hey!  Today I have pictures of the Zoya Gloss Collection! This is a collection of 3 "jelly" nail polishes. I love jellies, but have never had polishes that were as dark as these ones are (most of my jellies are whites, pinks, nudes, etc).

Some people don't like that jelly polishes show "visible nail line".  I don't mind a little showing and I am definitely not going to do 6 layers of these so that they will be completely opaque. All of the pictures here are of 3 layers.  Keep in mind also that after 3 layers the nail line isn't as obvious "in real life" (the pictures seem to amp up the jelly effect somehow).

These aren't the type of jellies that fake you out and actually have no color payoff (like Revlon Sheer Seafoam). Oh no, they pack a punch and mean business!

Here's "Frida", a teal jelly. Note in the picture above, my bottle came with no "Zoya" written on the front or ingredients on the back. It was completely naked, save for the label on the bottom! Weirdness.

Ugh, I broke my middle nail yesterday, so it's super short and this just shows it off more! Oh well :)
Then on top of the 3 layers, I did one layer of LA Girl Glitter Addict "Nostalgic", a teal glitter mix and topped it with one more layer of "Frida" for a sandwich:

I absolutely love it!
Next is "Paloma" (a Spanish name I've always loved, meaning "dove"). This is a bright berry jelly:

Another shot in the sun, just to show you how shiny these are! See the sunlight "pinging" off my pinky?!
Mmmm...looks like a lollipop!
Then I sandwiched in LA Girl Glitter Addict "Provocative", a pink hex glitter mix:

Lastly, we have "Katherine".  Side note, do you prefer the name spelled "Katherine" with a 'K', or "Catherine" with a 'C'? I tend to think of them as 2 totally different names, even though they are pronounced identically. Like, I have an idea of what a 'K'atherine would be like and a different idea of what a 'C'atherine is. My grandmother is a "Catherine".  Just to confuse you more, I also have an aunt with the named spelled "Kathryn", which I think may be my favorite version. But, I digress.

"Katherine" the nail polish is a burgundy/purple/raisin jelly.  MY FAVORITE!  I love her. Deep and dark, but the jelly factor makes it soft and super wearable. A great vampy alternative polish! Again, in person, not much nail line is visible, but these pictures make it seem more sheer:

I sandwiched in Sally Hansen "Ring a ding" with this one:

I am so pleased with these.  I was very hesitant to order them after reading mixed reviews, so I am glad I gave in and tried them for myself.  The formulas on them are so easy to work with as well and I experienced a pretty decent dry time with them, even after all those layers! And, I have to mention again- THE SHINE on these are amazing!

If you don't have a Zoya account and open one using my referral link here, you will receive a coupon in your account for a FREE bottle of polish! Even cooler, if you add 2 more to your order, the whole thing will ship for free. (Disclosure: If you use my referral link, I get credited and receive "points" from Zoya).

What do you think of the "Gloss" collection?

  2. I like jellies too; I think they offer more options than crèmes do, although I'm a solid lacquer girl at heart! The teal sandwich is absolutely beautiful, as is the last deeper one; I think the second one is pretty, but not exactly for me. Maribeth, your layering combos never fail to put a smile on my face! Gorgeous swatches, my friend!

  6. To be honest, this whole collection was a bit of wash to me (I think I made myself awkwardly clear on Facebook ;) but once you put Nostalgic over Frida, I think I swooned. Gorgeous!
