The holidays are officially upon us. Thanksgiving is just next week here in the US, and it seems impossible to me. I think the fact that we had to just skip over Halloween here in Jersey thanks to Sandy has made it creep up even faster!
Today I have 4 of the polishes from China Glaze's new "Holiday Joy" collection! Of course, I picked up all glitters. There was a pretty color called "Cranberry Splash" that I really wanted try, but my store was out. (You can see the colors here on China Glaze's website).
First, here is "Pure Joy"- a clear base with red micro-glitter and gold hex glitter. This is probably best as a layering polish, but I wanted to see how opaque I could get it on it's own. This was 4 layers and it gave pretty good, but not completely full, coverage:
Next, "Champagne Kisses", a sparkly champagne glitter that is a great alternative to all the reds and greens that are out for the holidays. Of course, I love this- it's a neutral! This was 3 layers:
Then we have "Angel Wings", a gold glitter with a slight holographic glow to it. This is a very "antique" type gold look, not bright by any means. 3 layers plus top coat (this dries to a dull finish):
Lastly, we have "Glistening Snow", the silver version of "Angel Wings" (also slightly holographic). 3 layer gives you complete coverage. This was with top coat as well, yet it still appears dull looking. Both of these dried to an almost sand-type finish :/
I like these, but they aren't supremely unique or stellar to me. I think I am becoming difficult to impress! Holiday collections are my least favorite though (Gasp!) so that could be it too. I am typically anti-red, so therein lies the probably- most of the holiday collections I've seen are inundated with reds! All of the formulas on these were great, so if you are in need of some great glitters this season for your collection, scoop them up!
What are you holiday must-haves for polish?
