China Glaze "Holiday Joy" Collection: My Picks

The holidays are officially upon us.  Thanksgiving is just next week here in the US, and it seems impossible to me. I think the fact that we had to just skip over Halloween here in Jersey thanks to Sandy has made it creep up even faster!

Today I have 4 of the polishes from China Glaze's new "Holiday Joy" collection!  Of course, I picked up all glitters.  There was a pretty color called "Cranberry Splash" that I really wanted try, but my store was out.  (You can see the colors here on China Glaze's website).

First, here is "Pure Joy"- a clear base with red micro-glitter and gold hex glitter.  This is probably best as a layering polish, but I wanted to see how opaque I could get it on it's own. This was 4 layers and it gave pretty good, but not completely full, coverage:

Next, "Champagne Kisses", a sparkly champagne glitter that is a great alternative to all the reds and greens that are out for the holidays.  Of course, I love this- it's a neutral! This was 3 layers:

Then we have "Angel Wings", a gold glitter with a slight holographic glow to it. This is a very "antique" type gold look, not bright by any means. 3 layers plus top coat (this dries to a dull finish):

Lastly, we have "Glistening Snow", the silver version of "Angel Wings" (also slightly holographic). 3 layer gives you complete coverage. This was with top coat as well, yet it still appears dull looking. Both of these dried to an almost sand-type finish :/

I like these, but they aren't supremely unique or stellar to me. I think I am becoming difficult to impress!  Holiday collections are my least favorite though (Gasp!) so that could be it too.  I am typically anti-red, so therein lies the probably- most of the holiday collections I've seen are inundated with reds!  All of the formulas on these were great, so if you are in need of some great glitters this season for your collection, scoop them up!

What are you holiday must-haves for polish?

I have to say that I wait all year for the holiday collections. :) But if you were to have only 4 out of this set, I think you picked amazing choices!! Gorgeous swatches, my friend!

    1. Thanks Ash!! Yeah, I know I'm probably in the minority, but they holiday ones never do anything for me. BUT, if they were all like your pretty white polishes, I'd be sold!

  6. Pure Joy and Glistening Snow are the only two I got. They're pretty, but I'm not as excited as I should be. All look great on you hon.

  7. Do you think these glitters are comparable to the fine glitters that CG put out in the On Safari Collection? I am in love with those glitters and these kind of remind me of them. I kind of feel the same way as you because it is getting harder and harder to impress me. I'm becoming polish jaded!

    1. I think they are comparable. I slightly prefer the On Safari ones, but these would be a very close second. I hate being polish jaded!!

  8. If I did buy any of the christmas collection it would be glistening snow. The others are all ah for me. It's a shame I'm not a face of most of the christmas collections.

  9. I got Pure Joy, but I'm kicking myself for not getting Champagne Kisses. Have you got any of the Cirque Du Soleil collection? I just made a huge order from Transdesign as an early birthday present for myself and picked up a few.

  10. You know how I feel about glitter, but I have to say there's something refreshing about how light the gold and silver holo glitters look. Dainty yet festive!

  11. I can't believe I didn't buy any of these yet! Usually I am all over new China Glaze collections, but nothing really jumped out at me.
