Twinsie Tuesday: "Regional Polish"

Hi there!  Welcome to another installment of "Twinsie Tuesday" :D

Today's theme is "Regional Polish", in other words- a polish that is only sold where you live.  I wish there was a Jersey Shore line of polishes, because that would solve all of my problems as far as coming up with an idea for this post.  Alas, there isn't, so I decided to pick a polish that I got at the dollar store.  I figure, yeah- we all have dollar stores wherever we are, but their inventory is so inconsistent that chances are you will not have the same color or even brand available at yours- know what I'm sayin'?

I picked this oldie up recently at Dollar Tree: Cover Girl Nail Slicks in "Midnight Frost" (Does anyone know when Cover Girl  stopped making these? I feel like this is really old, but I could be mistaken).

Midnight Frost is a deep dark green with a blackened duochrome effect:

I love this color, especially for Fall.  Come on down to the dollar store in Jersey and try your hand at locating this one!

Petites Color Fever Nail Polish: Fairy Pink, Banish, & Black Diamond Pictures

I have some REALLY pretty nail polishes to show you today.  These are all from the Petities Color Fever line, and 2 of them are holographic!

First, here is "Fairy Pink", a light pink holo glitter. In the bottle, it just seemed like a regular glitter but once this hit the sun-WOW:

(3 Layers)

Next, "Banish".  This color is hard to describe.  I'd say it's warm pink mixed with a dark orange duochrome flash:
(3 layers)

Last, we have my favorite- "Black Diamond". This is a black holo glitter and it is just perfect.

(2 Layers)

What do you think of these colors?

You can buy these at Rite Aid or from CQ Cosmetics website, where they retail for $4 each: http://www.cqcosmetics.com/Color_Fever_Polish_p/ccf.htm.  They offer FREE SHIPPING on them as well!

The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge: Day 6- Pool Party

Here are my nails for Day 6 of The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge- "Pool Party". I was stumped as to what to do for this day's theme, so instead of doing something literal, I decided to do colors that remind me of a pool.

I used OPI "Fly", LA Girl Glitter Addict "Nostalgic", and WnW "French White":

"Fly" is one of my favorite polishes of the year. The formula is outstanding- a creamy/jelly beauty!

Yay! Twinsie Tuesday: "Best Deal Polish"

I'm suuuuuuper (extra vowels for emphasis) psyched to tell you that I am now participating in "Twinsie Tuesdays".  What's "Twinsie Tuesday" you may ask?  It's a group of bloggers that do themed posts each Tuesday.  I have been following them for awhile, and I always looked forward to their posts.  Imagine my delight (underused word, btw) when I received an invite to join them last week. I'm pretty sure I made an actual noise, out loud, to myself that sounded like this: "Eeeeeeeeeeee".

So, this is my first "Twinsie" post!  As you can see from the title, the theme today is "Best Deal Polish".  I am an avid stalker of the clearance section in any store that sells polish.  I familiarize myself with that section, and I usually head straight for it.  The polish I chose to show you today is China Glaze "Prism" from the Prismatics Collection.  I picked it on clearance this weekend at Sally's "Half Off Clearance" sale. So the original clearance price tag was marked down to $2.99, and then take 50% off, it's down to roughly a $l.50.  On top of that, I had my birthday coupon for $10 off of $20 (which of course, I had to spend!), so I got this, plus 6 of the new China Glaze Safari polishes, plus a random Finger Paints, all for under $15.  Woot!

The reason I consider this to be my best deal polish, is because this collection came out fairly recently, and it was a polish I wanted anyway, but I knew if I kept waiting, it would eventually hit that clearance bin. The half off sale just sealed the deal.

So here it is! Prism's base glitter has a duochrome-y purple/blue flash, and then there are mutil-colored, slightly larger pieces of glitter mixed into that:

2 layers:

Isn't it fun?  I'm happy to report that with only one layer of Seche Vite, this dries very smooth!

What's your best deal polish? Are you more apt to buy stuff that you may not necessarily "love", as long as it's on clearance? (I am!)

The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge: Day 5-Inspired By Your Favorite Towel

Hi friends.  I really put the "lazy" in The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge that I'm participating in.  Even though this is "go at your own pace", I still feel I should be on some sort of schedule :)

Well, here I am-finally doing day 5, which is "Inspired By Your Favorite Towel".

Here is a picture of my towel inspiration:
I guess I'd say this is- black & white giraffe print with pink trim?  Hmmm...

And here are my nails! I used the crappiest white ever made (Wet N Wild) and OPI Onyx for the spots.  The pink trim is China Glaze Hang Ten Toes:
Doesn't that spot in the center of my middle nail look a little like an unintentional USA?

What do you think of my towel nails? (Yet another instance of me thinking- "Has anyone, in the history of man, ever actually said that sentence before?").

F4 "S'mores" Nail Polish w/ Essie "Like To Be Bad"

More F4!  The one I'm showing you today is "S'mores" and it's a really cool glitter (Side note: I love nail polishes that are named after food!).

I used Essie's "Like To Be Bad" (Wedding Collection 2012) as my base.  First, I did something I usually don't do- I added nail polish thinner to it until it was almost unrecognizable.  I love "Like To Be Bad" (although maybe not the name so much) but it is thick.  I felt like each time I went to use it, it was thicker and thicker.  I loved the consistency it became once I thinned it out.  I'd rather have a polish that is really thin and do multiple layers, than have a thick one that looks lumpy on.
Here are 4 layers of my thinned out Essie. This dried SO quickly because it was SO thin:

Then I did one layer of S'mores!  This polish has a clear base with teeny-tiny dark brown glitters, small light brown glitters, larger dark brown hexes, and even larger white hexes which of course, represent the marshmallows  :)

I LOVE this F4 glitter as well (see my other F4 posts here and here). You can find F4 polishes in their etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/f4polish

I will leave you with a parting shot of the S'more I made on the 4th of July:

Have a super day!

Butter London Pink Ribbon Nail Polish

Today I am wearing Butter London "Pink Ribbon"!  Not only is this polish fantastic because it falls into my favorite polish color category-"neutral", but it also holds a special place in my heart because I received it as a gift for my birthday from my friend E over at Mani Curiously!

Pink Ribbon has a jelly-like consistency and is actually more peach than pink (at least to my eyes).  I used 4 layers here:

I love this so much!  I can never, ever get sick of nude, sheer polishes, and this one is now one of my favorites.

Thanks so much E!!!! Don't forget to check out Mani Curiously, the blog that E and Dom (who is also super) run together!

Have a great Saturday!

Petites Nail Polish: Midnight Frost, Pink Aura, & Stardust

I have some new Petites to show you today!

First up is Midnight Frost, a black jelly base with small silver glitter.  This one applied really smooth and easy.  I did 3 layers for these pictures:

Next is Pink Aura, a coral pink with a very subtle warm pink shimmer.  The shimmer makes it so pretty in person.  This one is a jelly-creme hybrid formula and was a little streaky.  I did 4 layers here, which sounds crazy, but it dried pretty quickly because the formula is nice and thin:

Lastly, here's Stardust- a silvery, holographic glitter topcoat:

"Stardust" reminded me a lot of China Glaze's "Fairy Dust", so I did a comparison:

Dust showdown: Petites Stardust vs China Glaze Fairy Dust (R)- My original bottle broke, so it's in another one here.
In this picture below, I have Petite's Stardust on every nail except my thumb, which is sporting China Glaze Fairy Dust instead:

Petites Nail Polishes are sold at Rite Aid,but don't fret if you don't have one nearby!  They are also available on the CQ Cosmetics website (along with Chameleon, Color Fever, and CQ polishes- which I will also be reviewing next week!). The Petites retail for $3 each.

What do you think of these 3?  Have you tried Petites before?

F4 Polish "Summer Melon" & Julep "Courteney"

I cracked and ordered a few more mini polishes from F4 on Etsy (you can see more F4 here).  This one is called "Summer Melon". I first saw it when Lynn from "Oh So Lacquered" posted pictures of it over a lime green.  The combo was killer, and I love watermelons. I needed it immediately. I went straight to Etsy and couldn't find it in their shop. I asked about it on their Facebook, and they said that they were having trouble reordering one of the glitters, but they had a small amount left and would sell me one.  I was SO excited.  (Side note: This is the type of story that I usually would tell my husband, before I realized that it was sort of torture to him.  He likes that I like nail polish and blogging, but c'mon- I can only push it so far.  At least I know some of you will appreciate my backstory ;-)

I knew as soon as I ordered it that I would have to try to recreate Lynn's combo.  I had Julep "Courteney" (key lime creme) sitting in my untried polish box, and knew she would work perfectly!

Here's 3 layers of "Courteney" by herself:

Shiny!

I then did just one layer of "Summer Melon" on top.  This polish has a clear base and then teeny red, pink, and silver holo glitters, mixed with larger pink and dark green hexes, then big (but sparser for effect) black hexes:

So watermelon-y!

I love this combo and I love the sisters of F4! They are the only "Indie" polish I have tried, and I just can't say enough about them.  Be sure to check out their Etsy Shop!
