The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge: Day 13-Inspired By Something In Your House

Here we are on day 13 of The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge!  Today's theme is "Inspired by Something In Your House".

I picked this 3D flower I have hanging on my wall:

While I think I got pretty close to the colors of the flower (OPI- Stranger Tides, and a dab of Julep Zoe), background (Julep Olivia) and my wall (OPI- Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?"), my actual "art work" is merely inspired by this wall hanging, and really doesn't look like it at all ;)

Not my favorite, but it will do!

The Lazy Days of Summer Challenge: Days 11 &12- Summer Days & Summer Nights

We are so close to the end of Summer, and for the sake of time, I've combined the next 2 Lazy Days Of Summer Challenges into one post.  It worked out well, since they go hand in hand- Summer Days and Summer Nights :)

So first, here is my take on "Summer Days". I sponged on some 'hot' colors (yellow, pink, orange) for this manicure, representing the hot summery days. I did an accent nail of 'cool' colors (white, teal, blue) to call to mind the cool relief of splashing in a pool or at the beach :)

Here's what I used:

And then for "Summer Nights", I wanted something that reminded me of a clear, star filled sky.  I used Essie Dive Bar as the base, then one layer of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on top, then topped it all with Nubar "White Polka Dot":

Only 2 days of the challenge left!

JENsations Nail Polish: Pot 'O Gold & Pinata (Pictures & Review)

Hey there! Today I have 2 really cool glitter polishes from JENsations to show you!

First, here is "Pinata", which has yellow, purple, orange, pink, and green sqaure & hex matte glitters in different sizes in a clear base. This reminds me of Madi Gras!

(2 layers of "Pinata" over Zoya Marley):

Just you wait- in no time, I will be using this in a "jelly/glitter sandwich"!

And then there's "Pot 'O Gold", a really blingtastic gold glitter mix! There's gold hexes, squares, bars, hearts, and stars, all packed into this polish.

(One layer on top of China Glaze "Purrfect Plum"):
Some of the glitters have a holographic quality...you can see that better in this picture below:

How gorgeous are these?  I loved that these not only come in a cute star shaped bottle, but the brush inside is clear, which I always find is optimal for positioning glitter right where you want it!  The formulas on these were great and very easy to work with as well!

JENsations can be purchased from their Etsy Store here ($7.50 for 10ml).  Check out all the polishes Jen has listed...they are so creative and fun!  I love how Jen says in her shop description, "nails are a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless...". I wholeheartedly agree!

Urban Outfitters "Sea Dust" Nail Polish (Deborah Lippmann "Mermaid's Dream" Dupe?)

I'm not sure how I *just* found out about this polish recently, but it's true- there is a pretty close 'dupe' (ugh, I don't care for that word for some reason, but I'm still gonna use it) of Deborah Lippmann's "Mermaid's Dream" and it can be found at Urban Outfitters. A few things- not only did I not know that this polish existed, I also didn't know that Urban Outfitters made nail polish, and I ALSO didn't know that the nearest Urban Outfitters is less than 2 miles away from me. YES!  I hopped in my car and drove right down there as soon as I read that this particular polish was only available in store, not online.  After Googling it, I saw posts on this polish as far back as early June. Shoot. Was it too late? Was I even going to find any left?

I parked my car and walked into UO. I scanned the store and located the polish bins, walked over and started to sort through them in my head....there it was- THE LAST ONE:

It was fate.

3 layers of "Sea Dust":

This polish dries very smooth with just one layer of top coat (much to my surprise). I attempted to take an angled shot here, to try to show you just how grit-less this is, but I'm not sure if you can really tell so you will just have to take my word ;-)

The greatest part of this polish?  It was cheap. They are only $5, but if you buy 2, they are only $4 each!  C'mon...that's a pretty great deal.

Here's the other polish I picked up in order to take advantage of the deal (Chilly).  This worked out great, because I have an irrational dislike of having only one of a polish brand sitting in my drawers- I need at least 2 of them to be 'ok' :

You can see a side by side comparison that Taneja's Bride did here of the Lippmann VS Urban Outfitters.  The differences are negligible, in my opinion.

What do you think of "Sea Dust"?

Twinsie Tuesday: Color Blocking Mani

It's Twinsie Tuesday again! Man, doing these posts makes me realize just how quick a week goes by!  The theme for the Twinsies this week is "Color Blocking".  Sometimes, I read the theme and know exactly what I am going to do for it- instantly!  Other times, like this week, I have no clue ;)

I decided to keep it simple with just 2 colors: Sally Hansen "Duchess Lace" (nude) and "First Kiss" (coral pink):

I don't love it, but I don't hate it.  Eh, actually, I kinda do hate it, but you can't win 'em all, right?!

The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge: Day 10- Favorite Fruit

Hey!  I'm on the last stretch of "The Lazy Days Of Summer Challenge".  Only a few days until the Fall one starts! Can you believe that Summer is almost over?  I am grateful that my boys don't start school until after Labor Day- it somehow doesn't seem "right" to be starting school in August!

Today's theme is "Favorite Fruit". My absolute fav is watermelon, so naturally that is what I had to do:

I used Wet N Wild "Lavender Pearl" for the pink base (which, btw, I received as a "random act of kindness" from my pal Rachael ), and using a small nail art brush, put on Klean Color "Mystic Grass" for the 'rind'/tip. I then used a few black gems for the seeds :)

What do you think of my watermelon nails?  I had so much fun doing them!

Here's what you can look forward to for the last few 'Lazy Days':

Barielle "Buddha-ful" Nail Polish With CND "Creamy Cameo"

OMG. I have wanted the polish I am wearing today for the longest time.  A super sweet nail polish friend sent this to me (Thanks Morgan!) and I could not wait to get it on my nails!

Barielle "Buddha-ful" is a sheer peachy base with green flaky glitter bits.  It's just so pretty, and you know how I love my neutrals ;-)

It had a decent amount of coverage on it's own, but I decided to layer it. I used Creative Nail Design (CND) "Creamy Cameo" as my base.  This is a peachy/pink creme: (3 Layers)

Then I did 1 layer of "Buddha-ful" on top:

I was having a difficult time capturing the flakes. In real life, they are so obvious:

I dialed the lighting waaaaaay down on my camera in order to capture them more:

Even without the flakes out in full force, this combo still rocks:

Sigh. I just love this.  Neutral but with a little twist ;)

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Polish "Under Your Spell" with Klean Color "Chunky Holo Black"

Today, I am wearing 2 more polishes from my "untried" box.  Yay for making my way through that thing! (Who am I kidding? For every 2 I try, I put 3 more new ones in there!)

I've had both of these just sitting in there for months. And when I say "months", I mean MONTHS.  I got them in February!

Here is Wet N Wild Megalast polish in "Under Your Spell" (2 layers). Your typical dark burgundy vamp type color. Not cool enough to oust OPI's "Every Month Is Oktoberfest" as my new favorite vampy polish, but still pretty and very autumn-like:

And here it is topped with Klean Color "Chunky Holo Black", which is a sheer black base with killer holo hex glitters:

I have to say, Klean Color polishes are among some of the most unique glitters out there.  PLUS, they are super cheap. I found mine on ebay, since I do not know of a store that carries them around me. I believe I paid $1.50 for this amazing bottle of glitter. Yes, they stink (as in- they actually SMELL- very strong) but they make up for it in other areas ;)

What do you think of this combo?
