Today I am wearing one of the new-ish polishes from the China Glaze Texture collection. It seems each brand has tapped into the texture trend lately (OPI Liquid Sand and Zoya Pixie Dust to name a few---even some drugstore brands as well!). I thought that these would be very similar to the others that I've tried, but I found this breed of texture to be quite different. First off, there is zero glitter to these and they are extremely matte--zero shine or shimmer. Second, upon application of the first layer of polish, I could visibly SEE the grit in the formula. Other textured polishes go on all glossy and smooth, and then dry down to a textured finish--you sort of get an idea of what the polish would look like if you put top coat on it afterwards . These China Glaze ones are pure texture, right out of the gate.
As I was completing my first polish layer, I was muttering to myself something to the effect of, "Hellz no....nope. Not diggin' this. Nuh-uh". However, after I finished the second layer, something shifted inside of me. It looked really COOL! This reminds me of a crazy colored "popcorn ceiling". Wouldn't you agree? In The Rough is a light chartreuse, yellowy green:
What do you think of this amount of texture on your nails? I don't mind the slight roughness that textured polishes bring, so this was no biggie for me. Are you growing tired of the texture trend, or are you still loving it?
