Twinsie Tuesday: Something New

Hi!  How's it going? For today's Twinsie theme of "Something New", I'm showing you my new Lynnderella Nail Polish, Angel Food, sent to me by my friend Tara for my birthday this month. Not only is it a pretty awesome polish, but it's also the first time I'm trying this brand!

For this manicure, I started with a base of Julep Martha (a cool toned pink from one of their Summer Maven boxes) and I then topped it with Lynnderella Angel Food (which has a sheer pink base with pinkish purple specks of glitter, larger satin white hexes, and some iridescence thrown in):

Thanks again Tara for such a great polish!! I love it!

OPI San Francisco Collection For Fall/Winter 2013! (Nail Polish Pictures & Review)

                                                                                                                                                  Press Sample

Greetings! It's very appropriate that I'm showing you some Fall nail polish shades today since it's feeling more like October here in Jersey than July (current temp = 64!). I'm not complaining though---Fall is my favorite season.

I was so very excited to see what OPI had in store for Fall/Winter and the San Francisco collection did not disappoint me- there truly is something for everyone here.

First, here's the scoop about the collection from OPI's press release:

OPI Launches the San Francisco Collection
For Fall/Winter 2013

San Francisco by OPI brings street chic style with West Coast flair to nails and toes for Fall/Winter 2013. This new collection features a palette ranging from sky and sea-colored hues of blues and gray to reds, burgundies and browns inspired by some of the city’s most iconic elements – Chinatown, the Golden Gate bridge and the Embarcadero. This fall mélange is mixed with texture, seen in three new Liquid Sand™ nail lacquers in earthy hues of taupe, blue and gray: It’s All San Andreas’s Fault, Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! and Alcatraz…Rocks. Liquid Sand lacquers dry to a textured, matte finish, infused with reflective sparkle.
“To me, the women of San Francisco and the city itself really epitomize today’s multifaceted beauty consumer,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “San Francisco offers a European flair with distinct West Coast attributes. These elements inspired a collection of urban chic nail lacquer shades, thanks to the sophisticated combination of high fashion and eclectic street style.
“With twelve colors ranging from moody grays and blues to garnet and ruby jewel tones, these lacquers are designed to accessorize fall’s hottest looks, from military details to winter whites,” continues Weiss-Fischmann. “On fall runways, models were seen wearing luxurious textures from head to toe. The three new Liquid Sand nail lacquers incorporate the texture trend through nails, with rich matte finishes in colors to complement the season’s fashion.”

Onward to the pictures!

As soon as I laid eyes on Peace, Love, & OPI, I knew I'd fall in love. I was right. This polish flashes "sage & eggplant" and it is gorgeous. 2 layers shown here:
See more of the color shift below:

Haven't The Foggiest- a dark silver, fleck-y type of metallic. This one had excellent coverage (2 layers shown here):

A Piers To Be Tan- chocolatey, creamy, warm tan with a smidge of burnt sienna thrown in. (2 layers)

Keeping Suzy At Bay- super perfect navy creme (2 layers):

Incognito In Sausalito- midnight blue-almost-black creme. SUPER shiny! (2 layers):

Dining Al Frisco- looking at this in the bottle, I was sure I'd hate it (frosty blue!?) Once on my nails, it definitely grew on me more. It's not as light as I'd anticipated, and not super brush stroke ridden either (2 layers):

First Date At The Golden Gate- warm ruby creme (3 layers):

Lost On Lombard- pretty red creme ( a bit more cooler toned than First Date...) 2 layers:

In The Cable Car-pool Lane- rich burgundy creme ( 3 layers):

Muir Muir On The Wall- deep plum with a flash of burgundy. I LOVE THIS! (2 layers):

Embarca-Dare Ya!- sparkly magenta with amazing coverage (2 layers):

I Knead Sour Dough- OPI calls this "toasty warm brown" and I love that description. Very Autumn-y! (2 layers):

And here are the 3 Liquid Sand (textured finish) polishes!

Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!- a textured matte blue (2 layers, no topcoat):

It's All San Andreas's Fault- a matte textured taupe (that reminds me a bit of OPI You Don't Know Jacques!) 2 layers:

Last, here's Alcatraz Rocks!- a fine mix of purplish-blue and gold. To.Die.FOR! (2 layers):
And here's Alcatraz Rocks! with top coat:

Whew! What a large and awesome Fall collection!  My favs are definitley Peace Love & OPI, Muir Muir On The Wall, I Knead Sour Dough, Incognito In Sausalito, and I Haven't The Foggiest (ya, just a few!). There's really not a bad one in the bunch, especially if you are in need of some of the staple fall shades of red, navy, and brown! Which ones are stand outs for you!?

Some parting info from OPI:
San Francisco nail lacquer shades each feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application. Liquid Sand nail lacquers should always be worn without top coat. China Glaze Neon & On and Highlight Of My Summer (Nail Polish Pictures & Review)

Hi there! Today I have 2 of the creme polishes from China Glaze's Sunsational Neons collection to share with you!  This collection was somewhat elusive for me to track down- for some reason none of my local Sally Beauty Supply stores were stocking this. I finally got to Cosmoprof Beauty Supply and snagged a few more (I did manage to get Shell-O from a salon a few weeks back).

2 things you should know about these 2 polishes- they have extremely annoying formulas AND they are extremely beautiful. So I guess their beauty cancels out the fact that they were thick and streaky and very temperamental to work with?  (For me anyway ;)

Here we go!  3 layers of each plus one layer of topcoat since these dry to a semi matte finish:

Neon & On- a bright hot pink:
Indoors, you can see more of the true color:

And here's Highlight Of My Summer, a light minty lime green:
This is even brighter in real life!

What do you think of these shades? Are you willing to put up with a moody polish formula if it's a color you really like?

Twinsie Tuesday: Splatter

Hi friends! Today's Twinsie theme is "splatter mani".  I guess I would call mine more of a "blob mani" instead, since I was playing it on the safe side as to not make too much of a mess with this one ;-)

Anyhoo, here are my nails today:

And here are the colors used:
L-R: My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Eurso Euro, Suzy's Hungary Again, Can't Find My Czechbook, My Paprika's Hotter Than Yours

Zoya Pixie Dust Collection For Fall 2013! (Nail Polish Pictures, Swatches, Review)

                                                                                                                                               Press Sample

Zoya has a new set of Pixie Dust nail polishes for Fall out!  If you are unfamiliar with  "Pixie Dust", these polishes have a textured matte finish mixed with a beautiful shimmer, topped with an unbelievable wear time! (Not a huge texture fan? Fear not, you can still wear these beauties- simply apply 1-2 layers of topcoat to smooth away the texture.)

Alright, so first up is Tomoko, described as "champagne silver". Um, this is beautiful. Might just be my favorite Pixie Dust yet....you have to see the sparkle in person. A little bit on the sheer side, I did 3 layers of polish here:

Next is Sunshine, a "Van Gogh" navy blue according to Zoya (which is a SUPER way to describe this color). Totally awesome and only ONE layer of polish needed for full coverage:

Then there is Chita, a deep forest green. Again, this one only required 1 layer of polish! This one definitely feels "Fall-ish" to me ;-)

Oooh, and then there is the juicy orange copper known as Dhara. I totally think of Fall foliage or an Autumn sunset when I see this (ok, maybe not but I am dying over here at 99 degrees!  I want Fall!!)

Then we have Arabella (hmmm...this name brings me back to my soap opera watchin' days....All My Children/Babe, anyone?) is a hot pink fuschia and it is gorgeous! I did 2 layers for this photo:

Last, there is Carter, a royal purple that is just too freakin' pretty for words. In real life, this is a slight bit more warm toned than it appears in my photo, I did 2 layers of polish here:

There you have it- Zoya's Fall Pixies!  Which ones do you like?  These can be purchased from www.zoya.com for $9 each.

Hello nail friends!  Today I am wearing Zoya Luna which I received as a birthday gift from my gal Amber from Nails Like Lace!

This "Ultra Glitter" has a light gray base and is packed with fine silver glitter.  Not only is this super pretty, but it dries nice and smooth with no grittiness at all!  I did 3 layers of polish plus one layer of topcoat for the pictures below:

Twinsie Tuesday: Disney Inspired

Hi all! I feel like it's been ages since I posted! Well I am back for our Twinsie post today and the theme is "Disney Inspired".  I had to go with one of my favorites, The Little Mermaid.  Side note: In my mind, this is a "newish" Disney movie still. Out of curiosity, I googled around and found that I was 10 when it came out. Holy cow. I clearly remember going to see this with my siblings and my Mom during a school vacation, and feeling like I was "too old" to like cartoons anymore (but secretly, I wanted to be a mermaid still and was in love with the movie). But, I digress....

Source
Instead of absolutely butchering the theme with what was sure to be a horrible attempt at some Ariel nail art, I skipped ahead and did some skittles (meaning, each nail a different color) and topped them each with corresponding glitter. I tried to fade the glitter, in a gradient type of effect, starting mid-way through the nail and then adding another layer to just the tips.

There's red of course, for Ariel's amazing hair (Nicole by OPI Please Red-Cycle topped with CND Red Sparkle); Purple for Ariel's shell bikini top (Nicole by OPI Love Song topped with Julep Brooke); 2 different shades of teal representing the 2 colors of Ariel's mermaid tail (ring finger- Zoya Wednesday topped with Urban Outfitters Sea Dust...pinkie-Essie Where's My Chauffeur? topped with Essie Pure Pearlfection); and lastly, I couldn't leave out Ariel's little buddy, Flounder (thumb- Zoya Darcy topped with OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke!). Um, the yellow gold combo is something I MUST do in a full mani ASAP.

As always, don't forget to stop by and see what the other gals did for this week's theme:
