Duri Truth Or Dare Collection For Fall/Winter 2013 (Nail Polish Pictures and Review)

Press Sample

One of my absolute favorite brands, Duri, is releasing a new Fall collection called "Truth or Dare"!  These 12 polishes encompass everything from pale nudes to deep, dark hues, plus everything in between. Take a peek:

Naked Truth- a pale, white pink creme. Totally 'clean' looking!  (2 layers of polish shown here):

Sheer Bluff- a nude creme with hints of lavender. This one almost looks like it has specks of darker pigment in it too.  (2 layers):

Pink Player- a medium rose creme polish (2 layers):

Lilac Liar- a cool toned, lilac pink creme (2 layers):

Fuschia Finish- a, you guessed it, pretty fuschia pink creme (2 layers):

Coral Start- gorgeous medium coral...a little orangey and a little pinkish too. This is one of my favs! (2 layers):

Lucky Strike- beautiufl medium blue creme. This one reminds me of Essie Butler Please, only a bit more toned down (2 layers):

Grey Area- a deep, dusty greenish grey creme (2 layers):

Double Dare- a delicious, bright, shiny red creme (2 layers):

Question Mark- the perfect burgundy shade for fall (2 layers):

Berry Vague- dark, luscious purple creme (2 layers):

Murky Answer- a deep, purple tinged brown (2 layers):

Of course, I had to go ahead and do some polka dots. The base is Grey Area and the dots are Sheer Bluff:

If I've said it once, I've said it 1 million times- Duri makes a fantastic product. I've yet to experience a single 'dud'- the formulas are always consistent and wonderful, and the colors are on point. Check out www.duri.com to buy this collection. The best part? They are only $6 each!

Twinsie Tuesday: Slayed The Lemming

Happy Tuesday! Our theme this week is "Slayed the lemming". This is polish-speak for "which polish invaded your dreams for months and months until finally you found it/purchased it/ made it yours?".  I'm cheating this week, and re-posting a blog entry I first wrote back in April this year. That was when I FINALLY 'slayed' my #1 sought after polish(es). Here's the original post:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CND Flesh Foward: Perfectly Bare Nail Polish Colour & Effect Duo

The polish set I'm showing you today has been on my wish list since it first launched in a limited edition sort of way back in Spring 2011. CND (Creative Nail Design) is probably best known nowadays for their "Shellac" gel manicures, but they make fabulous "normal" polishes too that I find quite collectible.  They have their collection of Colours (usually cremes) and then Effects (shimmers, glitters, etc). For awhile they were releasing these sets that came with both a colour & effect, and I made it my personal mission to own all of them.

I was doing great collecting them- I picked up Urban Oasis, Red Hot, Pink Wishes, Plum Truffle, The Look Fall/Winter 2011. I even happened upon The Look Spring/Summer 2010 when I wasn't expecting it.

But this damn "Perfectly Bare" set kept eluding me. The longer I went without finding it, the more I wanted it. I obsessively searched Ebay, blog sales, and Google trying to find a set. Nothing.  "Would it be weird if I contacted someone who once featured it on their blog and offer them my firstborn in exchange for their CND Perfectly Bare set?".  Yes. That went through my mind (briefly).

One night, while sitting on the computer really late, my husband started talking about something he bought on Amazon. It hit me- I've never thought to check there for My Precious!  Wouldn't you know that I found it there within 2 seconds and I yelled out loud.  I don't think I've ever ordered anything so quick in my life (you know, because everyone else up at 3am in pining after a long forgotten nail polish set like me).

A week later, it arrived. My life was now complete.

Here's 2 layers of the Perfectly Bare Colour. It was super thick and could've used some nail thinner. I didn't care because I was just so overjoyed to finally own her. This polish is just enough peach and just enough pink. LOVE:

Next, I topped that with one layer of the Perfectly Bare Effect which gave my nails a nude, shimmery glow:

CND hasn't released any new sets in at least a year. I'm not sure if they plan on doing so. I tried to contact them to find out, but I haven't heard back yet. One can only hope ;)

Is there a polish or beauty product that has eluded you in the past? Do you still think about it, or have you conquered it?  (OR, better yet- did you find it?!)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I now know that CND has indeed halted production on these polishes, so no more for me in the future :( I can still rest easy, knowing that I found this and my collection is complete!

Be sure to check in with the other Twinsies to see what they longed for the most:

Hay friends!  Here's a quick post showing you Zoya's new upcoming holiday collection, Zenith!  These 6 polishes are so fun for holiday, and not your typical red/gold/glitter polishes that come to mind as soon as the holidays start to set in, know what I mean?

Seraphina- silver metallic (3 layers shown here):

Belinda- Cosmic purple metallic (2 layers shown):

Dream- Deep space blue halo (2 layers shown...gorgeous in the sun!):

Cassedy- Celestial pewter metallic (2 layers shown) LOVE this one...a little bit gray, a little bit green:

Payton- Galactic cranberry halo (2 layers shown):

Mosheen-Astro ice blue topper. This topper is so beautiful! It has small, icy bar glitters and teeny bits of iridescent glitter mixed in. Here it is over a few of the other colors from the collection:

Mosheen over Dream:

Mosheen over Seraphina- Subtle, yet still gorgeous and complex:

This collection will be available from Zoya's website here on October 1st!

Which ones are your favorites? Mine is Cassedy, but they are all truly gorgeous colors. The wear time on these are great too. I wore Payton for 4 days with very little signs of wear! (4 days is like a lifetime to someone as polish obsessed as myself ;-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Sation Miss-Terranean Collection For Fall 2013 (Nail Polish Pictures, Swatches, Nail Art & Review)

Press Sample

I'm so super psyched to share this collection with you today. Miss Professional Nail (Sation) is one of my all time favorite brands, and they have released a new collection entitled "Miss-Terranean". This 6 piece collection not only has beautiful colors for Fall, but they are my favorite type of formula- "crelly" (a mix of a creme and jelly finish).  They each applied  nearly effortlessly and were very shiny as well.

First, here's Don Wannabe- "glorious Grecian blue" (3 layers shown here)

Napoleon Dyna-matte- a "captivating crimson". So shiny and perfect (2 layers):

Winey Happy People- "rich velvety vino" (2 layers shown)

Hottie Biscottie- this one is an off white creme with a hint of grey, and it is absolutely fab (3 layers):

Tira Miss-U- "silky, sumptuous lavender". I am 100% in love with this gorgeous neutral!  (3 layers):

Need A Spumani- "muted pistachio".  This one was my favorite from the collection!  It's jelly formula and dusty color are so pretty for Autumn (3 layers shown):

I did some Fall nail art with some of the colors from this collection. Of course, I went leopard print. I clearly have a leopard print obsession (this spills over into many areas of my life, not just nails ;-)

I used Tira Miss-u as the base, and then did my leopard spots with Winey Happy People and Hottie Biscottie:

Do you love this collection as much as me?! Which one is your fav? Sation nail lacquers can be purchased from the Miss Professional Nail website here

Glitzy Glazes! (Nail Polish Pictures, Swatches, & Review)

Press Sample

Today I have polishes from a new indie brand called Glitzy Glazes (such a cute name, am I right?).   Kathi, the creator of Glitzy Glazes, sent me 2 glitters to try:

First, let's talk packaging. Both of these arrived well bubble wrapped and each in an individual baggie. The bottles themselves are adorned with a little crystal on the top and although you can't tell from photo, the label is iridescent (and very pretty!!).

Each botte has Kathi's signature on the back as well :
The first one I put on is Our First Time Around, a sheer white 'crelly' (creme/jelly) base with black, white, iridescent and red glitters in heart shapes, bar glitters, and different sized hexes. I did 2 layers here on top of a white base:

Next is I'm So, So Sari, a clear based glitter with tiny orange and pinkish glitters, with a mix of larger multicolored glitters in different shapes. There's yellow flower shapes, red stars, white squares, and teal hexes, just to name a few. Here is 2 layers on top of a black base. I LOVE THIS! The glitter combo is just gorgeous:

Both of these polishes applied very nicely. I had to fish the larger hearts of out "Our First Time Around", but heart glitters are notoriously illusive ;-) "I'm So, So Sari" required zero fishing and applied super easily.

Head over to Glitzy Glaze's Facebook page and click on "Store"...you can get a coupon for 'liking' their page!

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By A Magazine

Happy Tuesday!  Today's Twinsie theme is "Inspired By A Magazine"...since it's been a bajillion years since I've actually purchased a magazine, I had to find something online. I went to Glamour's site and found this article posted yesterday about stripes being a nail trend, and that is what I did on my nails today. Sounds simple, right? I had the most difficult time with this, and had to attempt it twice. It's not perfect, but I quit while I was "ahead":

Wet N Wild French White as base; OPI Embarca-Dare Ya! as the stripes

Please don't forget to swing by the other Twinsie's blogs to find out what they did for this theme:
