My obsession with makeup (with a strong emphasis on polish specifically) started at a young age. I remember being 7 years old, sitting in my 2nd grade classroom and becoming fixated on my teacher's nails. She had short, squared, perfectly polished nails. Each day, I would check with great anticipation to see what color they were painted. She was a fan of pearly, luminous whites and soft baby pinks. Its not wonder that my parents would always hear that I "wasn't paying attention during class"- I was too busy dreaming about nails.
Fast forward--- after I graduated from high school, I went to school and became a licensed nail tech. I loved every minute of it! Even learning about nasty nail infections and diseases didn't slow my desire. I worked in a salon for a few years, but was bummed to learn that most of my clients only wanted fake nails. Don't get me wrong, they look nice- but I hated the damage they inflicted. No matter how carefully they were applied, there was inevitably damage done to the natural nail; peeling, splitting, and overworked. I am a firm believer in the idea that a little TLC and attention can go a long way into whipping your own, natural nails into shape- ANYONE can do it! Even though I currently do not work in a salon, I still keep my nail license up to date.
In addition to being a nail tech, I have also worked in the cosmetic industry both in retail sales and as a freelance makeup artist.
